Update Australia 08-29-22
Interesting things happening throughout Australia. We have some information in Queensland as well as other parts of the country. So please pay close attention today.
Good morning, Australian chiropractors and allied health professionals. My name is Bharon Hoag. I am the Executive Director of the Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, August 29th, 2022, for your weekly update.
I have some information for you today, but I want to start this off by saying I don’t want this to scare anyone. I don’t want you guys freaking out thinking that there is some new wave that’s coming through, but I promise to always be honest with you. And in some ways, not that I’m ever optimistic about this, but I’m kind of glad we’re at this point, but we do have our first chiropractor that they are actually trying to shut down, fine. And part of it is because they were part of our lawsuit when it was initially claimed.
And we did a records request on their behalf or an information request rather on their behalf. So they kind of are coming after him because we used him to get some information from the government. But in Queensland we have a chiropractor that is really… OPRA is really throwing the book at them. And so we’ve taken on that case.
We are going to be defending them. And I don’t know if you recall this or not, but in the very beginning, when we started working together, we told you it’s very hard to actually go after the government until they actually do something, until they’ve actually shut someone down or actually fined them. Or there were a lot of threats, there were people that showed up in offices, but as we’ve been sharing with you, there hasn’t been a whole lot of action. Well, we finally have it.
It’s an odd time for them to pick to go after this, our attorneys are ready to go. We’ve consulted with them. They have a strategy. It’s going to be a little bit of a long game. This is going to take some time to get through, but we are actually optimistic about being able to challenge this with the government.
He does have exemptions. He does have things in his corner to help with this fight, but OPRA doesn’t seem to care and they’re making all kinds of accusations and assumptions and throwing the book at him. So this isn’t a scary thing. This is actually something we’ve been waiting for.
We know why they came after this individual chiropractor. It wasn’t random. They came after him for a specific reason because of the work that we were doing. And we told everyone from the beginning, we were going to stand by them.
And that’s exactly what we’re doing. So we will keep you updated on that. It’s going to be a very slow moving case, nothing on a weekly basis. I’m not going to have information for you, but I know how things get around and I know how some of you email and you tell me, Bharon you said, no one’s having any trouble. And then you tell me about these cases.
So I wanted to be completely forthright with you about that. Also, I had a great conversation with our attorney for our lawsuit. The pleading has been completed. It’s an unbelievable piece of work, hundreds of pages in this pleading. And we are starting to have, as I shared with you, we had one big contribution that we’re very thankful for.
And we’re sitting down and having conversations with a couple of other people that we hope are going to push us over the edge to be able to file that. So thank you again to all of you that are continuing to give us ideas of people to talk to. The pleading is ready. Our firm is extremely excited to introduce it. It’s unlike anything that’s ever been run in Australia before.
Very proud of all the time and money that we’ve already spent on this. And looking forward to getting the rest of the money collected so that we can move forward on this. This litigation is going to really be something for the rest of the world as well.
So we’re excited to be leading the front on this particular issue. So that’s kind of where we’re at. Other than that, everything is pretty quiet, nothing going on really in South Australia. I know we had a little bit of a buzz going on there for a little bit, nothing out of VIC or anywhere else. So things are relatively quiet. I am starting to plan my trip.
As I have shared with you guys before, I’ll be coming the end of February, beginning of March, going to be bopping around the island there. And I’ll let you guys know as those things come up and what happens and where we’re going to be, so that I get an opportunity to meet as many of you as possible. I will put that into my plans, no promises, but if I can make it happen, I will.

We will win. I’ve told you that from day one. I didn’t know how, I didn’t know when, but I know we will because we’re fighting for truth. We’re doing the work that needs to be done and we couldn’t do any of it without all of you.
So please continue to tell your colleagues. We need to continue to grow our influences. We’re taking on these cases as we’re stirring up stuff in the country, which is exactly what we want to do. It just continues to take the support of the people in the country.
