Update United States 09-05-22
Creating an infrastructure that ensures that your rights are protected is something that our profession’s never done. Today, I want to explain to you how we’re doing that in the United States in a way that doesn’t create a civil war, but helps us to build a revolutionary war. So you’re going to want to pay attention to what we’re talking about today.
Good morning, American chiropractors, my name is Bharon Hoag. I am the Executive Director of the Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, September 5th, 2022, for your weekly update. A couple quick things around the world, and then I want to get into the meat of today’s update. But we do now finally have Australia, its first state within its country has removed the mandate for vaccines.
I know in our country, we’ve been pretty much back to business as usual for a while. But in New Zealand and in Australia, we have still been heavily fighting to protect the rights of chiropractors and allied health professionals because they’ve been under repression. We have finally broken through in one of the states, as of the 2nd of September, they removed the mandate for health providers to be vaccinated. That’s a gigantic win there and we’re going to keep pushing and hope that it spreads through all the states throughout Australia, as well as New Zealand. So great news there.
More importantly, what we’re starting to see is they’re governments are actually starting to come out, the media starting to pick up on all of the lawsuits they’re going to start getting filed for those that were forced to be vaccinated that had adverse effects. It’s unbelievable what we’re starting to see again in Australia, it’s all over the media that now their government agencies are now liable for mandating this and people having adverse reactions. Now, knowing that the vaccines number one were not safe and number two were not effective. And it’s very interesting to see this happening. And again, not something that you really know unless you’re really following this stuff.
So I wanted to give you an update that there are still battles that are affecting chiropractors all over the world. And so I just wanted to give you a little bit of an update there. Now here in the United States, to build an infrastructure that protects your rights has so many different layers to it, right? People are asking Bharon, “Be specific about what you’re doing”.
So we’ve been helping a chiropractor in Minnesota that the licensing board has been coming after him and trying to create a better bridge of communication. Teaching him how to have better representation, how to go through and attack this case in a little bit more of a proactive manner. We’re working in Oregon as well with another provider that had a pretty egregious case. We’re not a legal firm that’s going to take on everyone’s individual cases all over.
But anywhere that we feel like a chiropractor is not getting a fair shake, where they’re not really given the tools, they need to be able to defend themselves, that’s where we come in. That has everything to do with licensing board issues that has to do with insurance companies that are stating your techniques or things of that nature are not considered an adjustment. We’re working with AO providers, we’re working with a number of other types of providers where maybe they’ve been ostracized because of their technique and not being able to be compensated or any benefit administered for that particular style of care.
Those are the types of things that we want to take on because we want to make sure that our providers have the right to practice within their scope and that everyone is playing by the same set of rules. I also shared with you amazing conversations that I’m having with CCE and FBC or FCLB and NBCE. But I want to be clear, I know that there’s been infighting. There has been all this, the Cartel and all of these terms used for these organizations and I am not taking away at all, what has happened in the past.
I will agree with you, there have been people in positions that have used it for their own gain. And it seems like there’s been an agenda for sure. I’m telling you what I’m dealing with is what’s in place right now.
And I’m trying to create a level playing field that allows our profession to function appropriately. If there was an agenda to get rid of any type of vitalistic type of practicing to make chiropractic more mechanistic or vice versa, we shouldn’t be doing things that are more restrictive in nature, we need to be allowed. Our boards are already set, our scope is already set. We want to protect those rights of those individuals and create an infrastructure that promotes growth within the confines of those rules.
Now, if we find rules that are completely inappropriate, we’ll get proactive and we’ll go after and change them. We’re doing that in Canada right now with a number of different, ridiculous rules that they have in place in different provinces in Canada. We’re proactively working with the chiropractors there and the national associations there, to fix those because they have been widely untouched for decades and that needs to change, now that we have more data and research and evidence.
The same thing’s happening here in the United States. We have to make sure that these organizations are working together. That we’re communicating, we’re creating a platform for our schools and our students to actually get through this thing called chiropractic and then creating the freedom for the practitioners to be able to practice and not have the restrictions that they’ve been having. And that goes on every side of this aisle.
As an organization, we’re an agnostic organization. I’m not here to promote one side over the other. However, there are pockets in our profession where that’s happening and we will stop that. We will get involved and try our best to create a reality where we can actually all flourish in the avenues or the spectrum of our profession that you want to operate in.
We’re always going to have that perspective to think that you’re ever going to eradicate one end of that line to the other is never going to happen. But how do we actually celebrate the diversity and move our profession forward and get more of the population understanding where health truly comes from.
That’s the objective of the defense council by protecting your rights and making sure we’re creating an environment that allows you to tell that story. So the work we’re doing is not agenda specific other than creating a better foundation where our profession operates. Removing all of these Hatfield and McCoy battles, putting all that energy, all those resources in a direction that actually tells the story of chiropractic more appropriately, so that we all benefit. That’s the objective.
So hopefully, that makes a little bit more sense on some of the things that I’ve been telling you in the past. But I’m very excited about the work that’s being done, I’m very excited about the conversations we’re having. Now talking about things that have happened in the past, I wasn’t there, I wasn’t a part of that, I can’t speak to that. I’m telling you what’s going on right now. And I am asking some of our really loyal contributors and people that have been in leadership of our profession forever.
And you’ve got the wounds that show your effort of trying to carry the cross. I want you to know that I’m not taking any of that for granted either, that I understand the work that you’ve done and I love your perspective and I’m glad you’re emailing me. But I need you to also trust that we’re working in a different reality today, a completely different world, post COVID, completely different healthcare system than we’ve ever had in the history of our world.
And so, there are opportunities that exist today that have never existed before that we are going to take full advantage of. And that’s why we’re doing the work that we’re doing. And it will have a better impact on our profession. And we will become the number one healthcare choice in our country because we’re going to work together, we’re going to do it smartly.
Albert Einstein had a quote that I love that, “You cannot solve the problems you’re facing today with the same mindset that created them”. And that’s what I’m asking people to do. I’m asking people to have adult conversations, to sit down, let’s talk through these issues that have existed for decades and move past them by finding a solution that works for all of us, because at the end of the day, we all want more people getting adjusted and we want our people compensated appropriately for it.
And that’s the work that’s going to be done. So enough rambling for today. Hopefully that makes sense to you. We’re going to continue. Please keep giving me feedback.
I will give you the information you need from us, but lots of work is being done. We need more support, we need more people jumping on board. Our goal is to get to 5,000 contributors, we’re just under 4,000 right now. And I really want to make sure that we hit that goal and I could use your help.
So hit me with any questions you have. Let’s work together to make some amazing things happen. But we love you, we appreciate you and God bless your day. (This is a computer generated transcript. Please excuse any errors.)
