Update New Zealand 09-12-22
Today should be a very, very important day in the new direction of what’s happening in New Zealand, so we’ll share with you what we’re being told, and hopefully what we can expect later today. Lots of good stuff for you today.
Good morning, New Zealand chiropractors and allied health professionals. I’m so excited to be talking to you this morning. My name is Bharon Hoag. I am the Executive Director of the Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, September 12th, 2022, for your weekly update.
A lot of work has been done this last week. The association has been really pressuring the government to answer our questions about why they believe continuing these mandates are justified with the data that they’re putting out. We’re being told that there’s an announcement today, there’s a press conference today, and we’ve just been told please just wait and see, and if you have questions after the press conference, then they’re happy to communicate with us.
So I want just to do a shout-out to the association in New Zealand. They’re doing a phenomenal job. We’re happy to assist. We’re happy to supply attorneys and do the things that we can to support them, but obviously, they’re the boots on the ground. The Chiropractic Defense Council is really limited to the resources that we can provide there on-site in your country, so it’s just been phenomenal to work with them through this process.
We’re hoping, we don’t know for sure, but we’re hoping that today’s announcement means that they’re lifting the mandates. Obviously, I shared with you last week that that happened in Queensland, on the 2nd of February; excuse me, that would be the 2nd of September, getting my months a little confused. So we’re hoping that this trend is going to continue. If that’s the case, it’ll be just a great day in New Zealand.
Now, I do want to tell you this, but that doesn’t mean this is over. There’s been a lot of damage that has been done. There’s been a lot of misappropriation of power through this process and we are not going to stop digging. We’re not going to stop pushing the government, and we’re going to find a framework and a way to ensure that something like this doesn’t happen again.
As we near the end of the year, there’s all kinds of talk of different things and new pandemics and things that may just pop up. We want to make sure that in the future that things are handled more appropriately than they were during this particular one. So please know that although this would be a phenomenal start, it would be a very freeing thing for a lot of you to be able to just continue to practice without any fear.
We’re thankful that you’ve been doing it under our protection, but it’d be a great day, but the battle is not over. There’s still a lot of work to be done. We need to create better frameworks. We need to create a better communication strategy, better inroads, and relationships with people throughout New Zealand to ensure that this just doesn’t ever happen again.
Hopefully, you will be getting good information later today at that press conference, but just want you to know that are the words that we’re hearing on the street. Kudos to the association for their pressure and for continuing to push them to be able to justify and support the things they’re doing, so great stuff. I look forward to talking to you next week and hopefully, we can celebrate. As always, if you need anything, you just reach out to us. We love you. We appreciate you. God bless you. We’ll talk to you next Monday. (This is a computer-generated transcript. Please excuse any errors.)
