Update Australia 05-23-22
Still, a lot of activity across Australia as our legal teams are working to defend our people today. I want to share with you what we’re seeing, and what we’re expecting as we come closer to the end of these states of emergency. Good morning, Australian chiropractors and allied health professionals. My name is Bharon Hoag. I am the Executive Director of OneChiropractic and The Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, May 23rd, 2022 for your weekly update. So there are still a lot of interesting things that are happening. I will tell you there’s been a massive reduction in the number of complaints that are being issued. That has slowed pretty considerably. We believe that’s primarily because the state of emergency is starting to come to an end. We do not necessarily believe at this point that they’re going to be extended. What we’re seeing is a shift in them trying to make legislative changes within their ministry.
We’ve been talking to you about our work with Opera and the letters that we’ve been sending. We’re still waiting on a response from them as far as their code of conduct, but we’re keeping a very close eye on a number of different things that are happening. I know south Australia, there’s some stuff hitting the media, but new south Wales is really released and things are opening up. So we’re still just monitoring at this point. What we can tell you is Victoria is still pretty tricky. But again, we do not have any real forced behavior from the Victorian government. The rest of the country is pretty light. We’re not seeing a whole lot. There’s some dogma and rhetoric that’s going on. I know in south Australia, that there was an article talking about them, increasing fines.
Again, there’s a lot of dogma, a lot of rhetoric, but not really any enforcement that we’re seeing anywhere. So we want you guys to continue to hold strong. They’re on their last leg. Now I don’t know what the next wave is gonna look like. We’re preparing for that. Our legal team is looking at different options, even in Victoria, we’re considering other options to be able to try to stop this from ever happening again. And we’re going to continue to weigh all those options as we have from the very beginning. The good news is we are seeing a massive reduction in the number of cases, the number of complaints that are happening, and even those that are happening we’re able to navigate. The interesting things we’re seeing from Opera right now, which isn’t even about being vaxed.
They’re coming after people because they’re spreading misinformation about vaccines that they’re anti-vax and so it’s been a very interesting shift that we’re seeing. It’s no longer focused on whether the individual is or isn’t vaccinated. It’s on whether they’re out there promoting a specific way of life. So those are, we believe those are, going to be pretty easy to beat. But it’s just been an interesting shift that’s happening. So we want you to continue to practice, continue to be bold and strong as we move forward looking at these and other options like this, as the dust settles on some of this stuff. So the next few weeks are very interesting as we wait to see what they’re doing when these states of emergency are coming to an end. But again, our legal team is on top of it. We’re watching it very, very closely doing the work that needs to be done. We’re not creating unnecessary work but we want you to know that we’re still here for you in any way that we can be. So have an incredible week this week, I’ll be back to you next week. We’ll continue to keep you updated. We love and appreciate you. Take care. Bye-bye.
