Update Australia 09-12-22
Lots of great stuff to share with you today. We have great things happening in New Zealand. More talk there in Australia, just lots of things, as the narrative of this pandemic are starting to fall apart. So, great information for you today.
Good morning, Australian chiropractors and allied health professionals. My name is Bharon Hoag, I am the Executive Director of the Chiropractic Defense Council, coming to you today, Monday, September 12th, 2022, for your weekly update.
First and foremost, today we’re expecting an update in New Zealand. We’re being led to believe that they are going to be dropping the mandates for health providers. We’ll wait and see exactly what happens, but again, that’s just another huge win in our direction for this just total government overreach, to slowly start falling apart.
We’re also hearing in Australia, from Victoria and other parts of the country, that they’re very interested in following suit in Queensland. We don’t know what “very interested” means, but we’re continuing to pressure how we can, to get these things released. We’re expecting over the next couple of weeks to see other states starting to drop their mandates as well. The narrative is just continuing to fall apart.
We had some good conversations this past week with other groups that have been trying their own method of lawsuits and trying to drop different things, and are very interested in what we’re doing with our case. So, it’s been a very good sway to our direction, as the momentum continues to build. So, we’re very close to getting secure in our final funding for the case to be able to get that moving. Now is the perfect time to be able to introduce our litigation, to be able to really go after the government and the way that all of this has been handled.
And so, we’re very excited. Great conversations, and great things happening around the rest of the world, as we’re starting to free things up, and this is the important thing I want you to understand. It’s not only that yes, mandates are going away, but it’s that we’re able to validate why they are not necessary. It’s not just an issue of, “Okay, well, we’re not going to do it anymore,” there’s been ample evidence to show that this mandate has not worked, it has not produced the outcome they wanted, and actually, they went about it in a way that was inappropriate.
So, that’s the important message, right? That’s the whole point of our lawsuit. It’s not really going after them for what they did, it’s going after them for what they didn’t do, the process that wasn’t followed, and what would’ve been better for the citizens of Australia. And so, it’s all built, it’s all ready to go. We’re still waiting on a little bit more funding to be able to give the green light for our legal team, to be able to just run this thing without any issues of finances. So, so thankful to all of you guys, as these things continue to happen.
I also will tell you all of our cases that we’ve been working on, I know there are still some AHPRA complaints that are popping up here and there, but nothing again of any real consequence. We’re not seeing any massive push, if you remember a few weeks back, there was a lot of talk there. That’s pretty much died down, nothing’s really happening in Vic. So, I think we’re starting to see the very end of this particular tirade, but now it’s about moving on, and we’ve been sharing with you the work that we’re wanting to do with AHPRA, and I’ve had some emails back and forth to me about that, and I want to address that quickly.
We’re not necessarily trying to create problems where there aren’t any, but if you look at the history of how AHPRA operates, it’s just a dysfunctional organization. They have way too much control over the entire healthcare system, and they do not have the proper mechanics in place to be able to honestly protect the public the way that they’re supposed to. So, what we’re trying to do is work with the legislature to try to create a model that’s a bit more effective, one, both for the providers, as well as the general public. And what’s happening with AHPRA right now, they’re just so haphazard with the way that they go about things, that they’re really just creating nightmares for people, including themselves. So, it’s just a very poorly run organization.
I’ve had a couple of you email me and say, “Well, I don’t have any problem with them. I don’t know why you guys are doing anything. Why are you poking a bear?” It’s not that we’re poking a bear, it’s that part of what has happened through this pandemic has just been this unbelievable ability for them to just control things, and to scare you with deregistration, and all of these things, without there really being any due process, and that’s what we’re trying to create. In most of the other industrialized countries in the world, it doesn’t run the way that it does in Australia. And so, if we can bring some information, some knowledge where it both helps the government, as well as the providers, that’s what we’re interested in doing.
So, please understand, we’re not the type of organization that’s out there like, “If there isn’t a crisis, we’re going to create one.” That’s not at all the case. What we’re trying to do is make sure that we’re creating an environment where you guys can actually practice according to your rights, right? We’re protecting the rights of practicing chiropractors and allied health. So, I want you to know this, if we don’t get proactive to a certain degree in the work that we’re doing, and we’re always just sitting back and waiting for a crisis to happen, then we never really get ahead of the game, and we’re not doing that.
That’s what’s been happening in the chiropractic profession for 127 years, and that’s why we created our organization to stop that. So, please understand that our objective is to never just be here and go away, it’s to be here and make sure the work that needs to be done is getting done in conjunction with you.
So, hopefully, that gives you an understanding of what we’re doing. I’ll be able to give you some more information, once our legal team really creates a strategy for how we’re going to go about doing this. Right now, we’re networking. We’re really starting to get to know some politicians. We’re trying to figure out who our allies are. We’re doing even more due diligence about AHPRA, the history of AHPRA and how it operates, where the weaknesses are, the areas that we think we can fix, and working with those that we need to make that happen.
So, that’s the big picture of what we’re trying to do in Australia. We love you, we appreciate you. We have much better days ahead, but we also want to safeguard and build up and make sure that we’re stronger for the next invasion of our privacy.
So, we love you. Have an incredible week this week. We’ll be back with you next week to give you even more information, and thank you so much for loving what you do enough to be a part of our organization, which gives us the ability to love and serve you. We appreciate you. God bless your week. (This is a computer-generated transcript. Please excuse any errors.)
