Update South Africa 06-20-22
Today, I just want to spend some time giving you some motivation, and moving forward into this week we maybe start thinking a bit differently about how you’re working with your patients. So good morning, South African chiropractors, my name is Bharon Hoag. I am the Executive Director of OneChiropractic and The Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, June 20th, 2022 for your weekly update. So again, I don’t have a lot to update. We’re still working with our legal team on the universities, but I like to keep sending you these videos because I want to stay in touch with you. I don’t want you to lose contact with what’s happening in the rest of the world. So today I’m going to give you a bit of a brief about what we’re doing in other parts of the world. And then I’m just going to leave you with some motivation today and hopefully, that blesses your week.
First of all, we’re still working very diligently in New Zealand and Australia. We still have a lot of oppressive behavior there. We are making headway, we are starting to win in those regards and our doctors are able to continue to practice without the fear of being shut down. But there’s still a lot of oppression from those governments at this time in Canada. We beat the mandate issues, so we’re not having issues there, but we are working in British Columbia which restricts chiropractors’ abilities to take x-rays. And so we’ve been fighting that we have a judicial review that’s going to be going before that licensing body in the about September, October range. So working hard there in Indonesia, we’re working to create a foundation for chiropractic to get it accepted as a healthcare specialty.
We’re looking at creating a chiropractic school working with the legal bodies and everybody involved there at that point. So that’s, it’s pretty exciting for us to be more on the advocacy side of things, not always just the defense. So we’re excited about that in the United Kingdom, we’re starting to work with them with some of the oppressive natures. It relates to X-rays as well as the structure of chiropractic throughout the United Kingdom. So yeah, we’re doing a lot of stuff all over the world and we’re excited to be able to represent and protect the rights of practicing chiropractors everywhere we can. Now this week, here’s my challenge for you. I actually had a phenomenal conversation with Irene Gold, and I’m assuming you guys know who Reggie Gold was. You know, he was just a very prolific chiropractor, really strong-willed and strong-voiced, and a very active person back in the fifties, sixties, and seventies for chiropractic.
And you know, and I was talking to Irene and that she was actually being interviewed. And, she said in the interview, the question was, why was Reggie so boisterous about chiropractic? What was it that got him so excited? And she made a comment that you had to understand those that learned under BJ. They were indoctrinated with this idea that the minute that they were licensed, they owed something to chiropractic. It wasn’t that chiropractic owed them anything. They owed something to chiropractic, and that hit me. It hit me hard that a lot of times we feel like we’ve paid our dues
And there are difficulties in being able to practice chiropractic, being the redheaded stepchildren and the healthcare systems around the world, all of these different things. And so a lot of times we look at things and we say, well, what are we getting out of it? And I, and I loved that perspective back then, the people that fought that was going to jail for practicing chiropractic and still practiced, I’m just blown away with their resolve. And, and I’m starting to understand it because at that time it was indoctrinated that it was an honor to call yourself a chiropractor that not everyone could cut it. Not everyone could really get through the process and, and connect to the purpose of and the real philosophy of what chiropractic was. And that’s still the case today. Like, it’s an honor to call yourself a chiropractor, but we owe something back to the profession.
It’s opened our eyes. It’s kinda like the matrix. And we took the blue pill and our eyes have been open to the reality of health, the reality of how our bodies work. And so now we have a responsibility to not only protect and promote but to also give of ourselves, to make sure that we’re proliferating this concept of chiropractic. So that’s my challenge to you this week. When’s the last time you’ve asked a patient if they’ve considered being a chiropractor, when’s the last time you got on someone’s face and told them the truth about health and challenged them to make better decisions for themselves. When’s the last time you found a way to go and support other chiropractors purely for the purpose of ensuring that chiropractic grows. So that’s my challenge for you this week. Have you really considered what you’ve done for chiropractic, not what you do in your clinic and get paid to make a living for yourself, but what you’re doing to give back to ensure that our profession continues on the path of becoming the number one healthcare choice in the world?
That’s my commitment. That’s what I’m doing. And I hope you’ll join me in that effort. So thank you so much for joining us, and being a part of the CDC family. We love you. We appreciate you. We’re going to continue to work in South Africa to make sure that your rights are protected. Help us by sharing these types of videos with your colleagues. We want to grow our group, our tribe there in South Africa. So please help me in doing so, but we love you. We appreciate you having an incredible week, and we’ll talk to you next Monday. God bless you.(This is a computer-generated transcript. Please forgive any errors.)
