Update Canada 08-29-22
Even more information coming through on defending individual chiropractors against colleges and the work that we’re looking at across Canada. So good information for you again today.
Good morning, Canadian chiropractors and allied health professionals. My name is Bharon Hoag, I am the Executive Director of the Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, August 29th, 2022, for your weekly update.
Hope you’re having a great week thus far, I know it’s just starting, and had a good weekend. But I wanted to share with you again some more information as we’re digging into representing the individual chiropractors around the country, specifically in Ontario and Alberta. Just craziness, crazy stuff that we’re learning every single day.
God bless you, Canadian providers and what you deal with in the uncharted and ungoverned, apparently, world of chiropractic and allied health. Just still blowing my mind the things that I’m seeing as we’re digging into this and our attorneys are looking into cases. Thank you for those of you that are reaching out to us with different issues and cases that you’ve had.
Our goal, again, is to protect your rights and make sure that in these processes that the different colleges are not overreaching. They’re not targeting people. They’re not doing things that are unjust or unprepared. And so we’re doing that work. But I also want to remind you that we’re looking at the different laws that are very restrictive in your ability to practice as well.
We’ve talked about that before, about marketing laws and prepay laws and things of those nature. So I want you guys to keep communicating with us, letting us know what you’re seeing, areas that you feel need. Don’t be angry if we decide not to take those particular things on. We’ve got to be a little bit selective right now with our resources and the battles that we can take on, but we’re committed to this process. We’re committed to growing our footprint throughout Canada.
We’ve been communicating with CNAC and that leadership and everyone that we can to make sure everyone understands our intentions are not to be a bully, not to come in and start messing things up. But rather to be a resource, to actually hold people accountable to their behaviors and making sure that we create the best environment possible for chiropractic and allied health to grow.
So in British Columbia, we’re still working on our x-ray. I had a conversation with our attorney just this week. He’s going to be completing his review of that case, and then we’re going to be filing that judicial review that we’ve been waiting on there on the x-ray issue. So should have some information on that within the next week. And we’re still pressing forward with some of the other issues that we’ve had with the BC side.
So I want to remind you that there are elections coming up for your chiropractic colleges. We want you to be vocal about that. We want you to support the people that need to be on there that are doing things for the right reasons so that we can hold these organizations accountable for their behaviors.
So lots going on in Canada, please, please, please continue to spread the word to your colleagues. Let them know the scope of work we’re taking on, what we’re trying to do. We need to grow our representation there.
Remember, it’s $33 US a month. It’s a very small commitment to help us achieve these pretty massive movements that we need to achieve throughout the different provinces in Canada.
So we love you. We appreciate you. Can’t thank you guys enough for the work you do on the ground for the service you provide humanity, and remember that’s what this is about. This isn’t about us. It’s not about your ability to make money or grow a clinic. It’s about the ability for us to impact as many of the people in your country as humanly possible with the beauty of true health.
So don’t ever stop the fight, know that you’ve got a partner. We’ll be on the front lines with you every single time. But I just want you to know the work that’s being done and how much we appreciate you guys trusting us to do it. So you know where we’re at.
If you need us, give us a holler. Otherwise, God bless you, and we will talk to you next Monday, and be well. (This is a computer-generated transcript. Please excuse any errors.)
