The environment in Australia is very complex and ever changing. Today we want to spend some time explaining what is really happening there for Chiropractors and Allied Health Professionals on the legal front. Clarify some points that I’ve said before, and then also give you a look of where we think things are headed in the future. So good morning, our Australian Chiropractors and Allied health professionals. My name is Bharon Hoag. I’m the executive director of OneChiropractic and The Chiropractic Defense Council coming to you today, Monday, March 14th, 2022 for your weekly update. So I wanna kind of go through some things we’ve had some people reach out based on the comments that I’ve been making over the last few weeks, about the work that’s happening in Australia.
So we’ve been talking about those, providers that we have been representing that may have, have had an op uh, opera complaint, or maybe, had a health officer call and show up to their office. So I want you to understand that that each, directive is very different in each state of Australia. And so in Victoria, it’s very different than it is in new south Wales, Queensland, south Australia, um, and has mania. They’re, they’re very different in the way that they went about these directives. And so part of the complexity of the work that we’re doing is really depicting each of those particular directives and making sure that we’re giving guidance appropriately to those that live in the corresponding State. So when I’ve been saying that we have been representing successfully providers all over that is true to this date. We have not had anyone actually shut down. However, things are a bit more complex in Victoria. So I want to clarify this, and we’re starting to see, um, a little bit of an increased activity in Victoria as well.
So in Queensland, new south Wales essay and Tasmania, there’s very little involvement. We don’t see an increase in activity. It’s only based on immediate direct complaints and we are, we have successfully, navigated all of those. We have not had anyone that’s been fined or shut down, no notices. Anytime there is a complaint we’ve been able to successfully respond to that and, and the complaint process. So we have, we’ve been very, very successful there.
Victoria, we do have a few cases where it’s a bit more complex Victoria, because they actually legislated all of this moronic behavior. So we do have a few cases in Victoria that we’re working with now, still to this date, we don’t really have anyone that’s paid any fines, but we do have a few people that have been told that, that they’re going to be served and notice telling them to either get vaccinated or stop practicing. So our legal team is on that. Um, we are also, which isn’t a great thing. We’re seeing that the authorized officers for the DHHS in Victoria is growing. They seem to be getting a little bit more intelligent about the way they’re going about things they’re rather Than doing random show ups. We’re seeing that they’re now calling, um, and trying to schedule a time to make sure that the business owner is there so that they can conduct the interview. They’re still not egregious.
We’re not having people showing up or, or being removed with handcuffs. None of the things that everyone was afraid of in the beginning and our legal team is learning just as much as the DHHS is learning about this process as well. So I never ever wanna misrepresent what’s happening, what we’re doing or what’s happening on the ground. But I also want to be, you know, I want to be clear that this isn’t the big, scary thing that everyone was concerned with. So if you’re in Victoria, um, there is increased activity.
