Interesting week in South Africa last week had a, had a great call with our legal team. We’re gonna share with you about what’s happening there and our work against the universities, as well as what’s going on around the rest of the world, because we’re, we’re, we’re keeping an eye on what we think the trends are going to be. So lots of good information for you today and your weekly update. Good morning, South Africa, chiropractors. This is barren the executive director of one chiropractic and the chiropractic defense council coming to you today, Monday, March 28th for your weekly update. Um, so I had a, a, a very long, well, the call was longer than I could stay on with our legal team, uh, this past week. And again, to bring you back up to speed in what’s going on, um, we are working with, um, university Alliance. They are, uh, we have issues with our chiropractic students right now.
Our universities are, are enforcing vaccine mandates. They’re not allowing students on campus. Um, and this is a problem for a million different reasons, but obviously we don’t want the future of our profession to be people that we’re forced to vaccinate themselves. Um, that’s a moral Emma for, for most of us in our profession, you know, vaccines have been a, a big topic for a long time. Um, and now being told that they can’t continue their education without being vaccinated as a problem. So we are, uh, working along with the other group and other specialties that are trying to stop the universities from, you know, what we believe in appropriate mandating behaviors, um, to these individuals. So, uh, had an interesting call. I, I will be the first to tell you, I sit and talk with a lot of attorneys around the world. Um, but we had over five different, uh, attorneys on this call as they’re debating strategy of going after, um, the universities, cuz this doesn’t just affect the students.
It affects the professors and the staff of the universities as well. So there’s a lot of different angles to what’s happening here. Um, and it was very interesting to watch the legal minds. I’m, I’m relatively new to South Africa, so I’m learning as I go along. And it was a very interesting call, um, uh, watching them strategize and look at the different angles that we have. I need everyone to understand. There’s, there’s, there’s a lot of webs. It’s a very deep, well, when you start going against the government and the government’s power to enforce certain things. And then when you go to employers of power to enforce things to their employees and to their customers. So it’s a very complex process that we’re going through. And the worst thing that can happen is filing a lawsuit too soon and setting precedent that supports the other side of the argument.
So that that’s why cases are so expensive, uh, because of all the due diligence and all of the time looking at all of the case law, all the precedent that’s been set previously, as it relates to this issue, especially with something as new, our world’s never gone through a pandemic like what we’re going through right now. Um, and you know, South Africa is, is kind of late to this party if you will, compared to where other countries are at. So we are working on that case. We’re not gonna give up if we have parents of students that are watching this or students themselves, I want you to know that we’re spending a good amount of money. Um, definitely more than we’re bringing in from South Africa to make sure that we’re representing, um, those individuals. So we’ll as, as our court case and our legal team starts developing more strategy, we will be sharing that with you when it’s app to the level that it is appropriate, um, as we move forward.
So I just want you to know that work’s being done, the dollars you are spending do help, but, uh, you know, we need to spread the word. You know, we don’t have a lot of, of south African chiropractors that are a part of our group yet. And we want to continue to grow that. I shared that with you last week, the importance of spreading the word and the vision of what the defense council is. We’re probably gonna put together another zoom call, um, just to introduce us to more chiropractors, letting people know the vision of who we are, what we’re doing and try to grow that tribe there in South Africa. So we can be prepared for the next wave, cuz there is a next wave and I’m not sure south Africa’s ever gonna get hit to the level that other countries did because we’re kind of on the tail end of this endemic, but there’s more coming.
Um, we’re starting to see that in different countries and we wanna make sure that South Africa is prepared and that the rights of our chiropractors are protected. Um, so please share that with your group now, with what’s going on around the rest of the world, we’re still, uh, shared with you a little bit last week, our concern of what’s happening in Canada. Um, we are continuing to push that forward. We believe we have a good angle, but our concern is that is going to be the next wave information is going to be the new weapon. Um, and trying to point out those that do not comply or do not follow rules and create this Scarlet letter of sorts. As a reminder from last week, um, in Canada, they’re not mandating the vaccine, they’re actually creating this list of who’s vaccine and who’s not. And their goal or their objective is to create a public list that shows vaccinated not vaed under the auspices of creating informed consent, where the general public can choose which healthcare providers they want to go to based on their VA status, completely inappropriate, never been done with any other infectious disease ever, um, aids or HIV or any of those other things, um, that are, you know, were considered far more deadly than what this particular pandemic is supposedly about.
Um, so we’re fighting that, but that is my concern that they’re gonna create a social stigma, Scarlet letter of sorts. Um, and so if that’s the next wave we want to get ahead of that in these different countries and understand privacy information and, and what the, the government has the legal right to do. So, um, beauty of us being in so many different countries, we’re able to really for tell what might be coming and keeping an eye on that, but we have, uh, we’re doing great work all over the world. I’m very proud of the work we’re doing. Thank you for your belief in us. Um, and we’re excited about the work we’re gonna be doing in South Africa as well. So we love you have a great week. Again, I’ll share with you more information about what we’re doing with our university, uh, issues, um, as those progress. But I just want you to know you’re loved and you’re appreciated.
And I hope this week, you continue to love and serve out of a sense of abundance, not out of a sense of fear, not out of a sense of waiting for the hammer to drop. I assure you, we are there. We will work with you. We’re building our legal teams as we, um, as we continue to build relationships. And so, um, we appreciate you. We love you for loving what we love and together we’re gonna help make sure chiropractic becomes the number one healthcare choice in the world. So have an incredible incredible week. We’ll talk to you next Monday. God bless you.
